چکیده

Ray tracing is one of the most elegant techniques in com-puter graphics. Many phenomena that are difficult orimpossible with other techniques are simple with ray trac-ing, including shadows, reflections, and refracted light.Ray directions, however, have been determined precisely, and this has limited the capabilities of ray tracing. Bydistributing the directions of the rays according to theanalytic function they sample, ray tracing can incorporatefuzzy phenomena. This provides correct and easy solu-tions to some previously unsolved or partially solved prob-lems, including motion blur, depth of field, penumbras, translucency, and fuzzy reflections. Motion blur anddepth of field calculations can be integrated with the visi-ble surface calculations, avoiding the problems found inprevious methods. Interactive Ray Tracing on Commodity PC clusters State of the Art and Practical Applications

Due to its practical significance and its high degree of parallelism, ray tracing has always been an attractive target for research in parallel processing. With recent advances in both hardware and software, it is now possible to create high quality images at interactive rates on commodity PC clusters. In this paper, we will outline the “state of the art” of interactive distributed ray tracing ...

Recent Advancements in Ray tracing-based Volume Rendering Techniques

Recent developments in ray tracing algorithms have shown that interactive high-quality volume rendering is no longer unreachable even for softwarebased implementations. Compared to graphics board and custom hardware implementations they offer additional benefits, e.g. support for large models and for integration with different types of data set topologies. This paper summarizes the state-of-the...

Interactive Art Analysis Based on Baudrillard’s Hyper reality Theory, a Case Study of Digital Interactive installation

The contemporary philosopher Jean Baudrillard, one of the postmodernism theorists, considers representation in the contemporary world as a factor in the disappearance of reality. In his view, the main feature of new arts is not the expression of artistic beauty, but communication with the audience and expression of the artist’s ideas. In interactive art, the presence and role of the audience in...

Ray-tracing and Interferometry in Schwarzschild Geometry

Here, we investigate the possible optical anisotropy of vacuum due to gravitational field. In doing this, we provide sufficient evidence from direct coordinate integration of the null-geodesic equations obtained from the Lagrangian method, as well as ray-tracing equations obtained from the Plebanski’s equivalent medium theory. All calculations are done for the Schwarzschild geometry, which resu...

State of the Art in Ray Tracing Animated Scenes

Ray tracing has long been a method of choice for off-line rendering, but traditionally was too slow for interactive use. With faster hardware and algorithmic improvements this has recently changed, and real-time ray tracing is finally within reach. However, real-time capability also opens up new problems that do not exist in an off-line environment. In particular real-time ray tracing offers th...
